This piece originated with an electronic sampler, and eventually, I became obsessed with finding a way to port over my experimentation there into this ensemble. Like the story, the idea of obsession, start-stop, the struggle of reality and time as it continuously marches on, and the contrast of the real vs the imagined governs the decisions in this piece. The bagatelles elucidate high contrast – both within the movements and from each other – and different moods, while retaining a larger teleological directive of start-stop. The music whirls, sometimes slows down, and finally races towards a finish line of repose, with unresolved harmonies ringing out into eternity.

Esta pieza se originó con un sampler electrónico y, con el tiempo, me obsesioné con encontrar la manera de trasladar mi experimentación allí a este ensamble. Como en la historia, la idea de la obsesión, el arranque-y-pausa, la lucha de la realidad y el tiempo que avanza sin cesar, y el contraste entre lo real y lo imaginado rigen las decisiones de esta pieza. Las bagatelas evidencian un alto contraste —tanto dentro de los movimientos como entre ellos— y distintos estados de ánimo, conservando una directriz teleológica mayor de arranque-y-pausa. La música gira, a veces se ralentiza, y finalmente corre hacia una meta de reposo, con armonías sin resolver resonando hacia la eternidad.
