J.E. Hernández (b. 1993) is a Mexican-born, San Diego/Houston-based composer, cinematographer, researcher and ethnographer whose practice bridges inner and outer genealogies through sound and multi-disciplinary work. His music has been featured by the Tanglewood Music Center, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Houston Grand Opera, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and in a wide variety of films; recent projects include Ilnamikilispan, ’Ux Winal, and East End Echoes Vol. 1. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Music Composition at UC San Diego.

Hernández (n. 1993) es un compositor, cinematógrafo, investigador y etnógrafo nacido en México y radicado entre San Diego y Houston, cuya práctica tiende puentes entre genealogías internas y externas a través del sonido y el trabajo multidisciplinario. Su música ha sido presentada por el Tanglewood Music Center, el Kennedy Center, el Lincoln Center, la Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, la Houston Grand Opera, el Contemporary Arts Museum Houston y en una amplia variedad de películas; entre sus proyectos recientes se encuentran Ilnamikilispan, ’Ux Winal y East End Echoes Vol. 1. Actualmente cursa un doctorado en Composición Musical en UC San Diego.
