Similarly to another piece of mine, this piece was inspired by my longtime use of samplers, specifically (and scored for in this piece) the Roland 404-SX. The world premiere occurred in Austin, TX by the extremely talented and bold line upon line. The work focuses on blurring the lines in between the language of sample-based music that was highly influential during the end of the last millennium and spilling into our current one, which is a world in which I lived for a long time, and the contemporary concert language in which I’ve received my classical training. And it’s fun.

Al igual que otra pieza mía, esta se inspiró en mi largo uso de samplers, específicamente (y para el cual está escrita esta pieza) el Roland 404-SX. El estreno mundial ocurrió en Austin, TX, a cargo del sumamente talentoso y audaz line upon line. La obra se enfoca en difuminar las líneas entre el lenguaje de la música basada en samples —muy influyente hacia el final del milenio pasado y que se derrama en el actual, un mundo en el que viví mucho tiempo— y el lenguaje contemporáneo de concierto en el que recibí mi formación clásica. Y es divertida.
